Michele's Story

A little about myself today and how I got here. I've had a very busy life since graduating. I married in Sept. of 1972, the man I met in July 1971 while "hanging out" with Diane Johnson. Since Mike was in the Air Force we lived in North Caroline for a year and then moved back to Cincinnati in the spring of 1973. In 1974 Mike was offered a job in Michigan with the Department of Defense and so off to north of Detroit we went. That was the start of a good life as a federal employee. We moved to Washington Courthouse, Ohio in 1975 when Mike transfered to Columbus still with DOD. Opportunity again came in the picture for Mike to work at the GE Evandale plant for DOD as a Quality Assurance inspector of the Engine contracts DOD had. We moved to Batavia. Now during this time we had 3 daughters and I was a stay at home Mom. When the youngest daughter went off to grade school I started working part-time. I did some cashier work and then worked for Bank One as a teller for a while. In 1988, Mike had the opportunity to switch from DOD to Dept. of Transportation working for NASA. So, we moved again to Titusville, FL. The girls all graduated from Titusville High School. I started working for Brevard County Board of County Commissioners, Clerk of Courts in the Finance Office. Mike decided to retire from the Federal Government Jan. 2007 and so I retired from the County Dec. 2006. We took a 3 week vacation to Alaska in May 2007 and have taken several shorter trips throughout the year. The Alaska Trip was wonderful and if anyone has the opportunity to go there, all I can say is you should. Breath taking beauty. From the Gold Mines of Fairbanks to Mt. McKinley, Denali National Park to the Kenai Fjord. So much to see and experience. Mike and I own a 2003 Harley Low Rider motorcycle and travel to many of the Harley Owner Group state rallies. We've traveled as far west as Houma, LA and Mike has been as far north west as Memp...Expand for more
his, TN. We've gone on short trips up the coast and plan to ride to Ohio in June this year. My husband also brews his own beer. We belong to a "homebrew" club and participate in state and national homebrew competitions. I make mead (honey wine) occassionally and have taken 2nd place with one of my brews. Mike and even the oldest daughter have taken the gold medal. Kim brewed a Blonde beer (her first attempt) and Mike received his gold for a Belgian Wheat beer. A little about the family. Our oldest daughter Kim has been married almost 10 years and has given us 2 wonderful grandsons. They are precious but sometimes a handful. The youngest daughter Paula married a County Sheriff Deputy and they have an English Bulldog as their baby. Nicole is our "Professional Woman", she just finished her Masters degree and works for the Federal Government. She lived in Washington DC for 5 years working for the Department of Defense Inspector General as an auditor. Two years ago she was able to transfer to the NASA IG office here at Kennedy Space Center. She just received a promotion. She is now a Lead Auditor and her team is based at Glenn NASA Center in Cleveland so she will be traveling quite often to Ohio and DC. She bought a house only 3 miles away and so when she has to leave her Lassa Appsa "Bentley", we get to dog sit. He is perfect for her but our Springer Spaniel "Abbey" is happy when he goes home. Abbey is 3 years older than Bentley and so she doesn't always want to play when he does. We have been so blessed over all the years. Our needs have always been met and though we have had to move around alot! I wouldn't change any of it. My Mom and 2 of my brothers still live in Ohio. My father and oldest brother have passed on to a better life. My brother Chris (class of '75)lives in Long Beach, California. He's works for American Eagle Airlines. I'm looking forward to visiting with many friends from my class of 1972.
