Michelle's Story

Life I suppose a lot has happened since 1985, most of it is like everyone else. LIFE! Bud and I got married in 87' and we will be celebrating our 18th anniversary this summer. We started a family in 89' and I found out that having kids would be something I did well! Our eldest, a boy, will be 16 in May, our second son is 14, and our baby, a girl, just turned 13 in Jan. We lived in Kindersley for 12 years, and when Bud's parents passed away we decided to move out to his family farm. It was a big adjustment for all of us, yet it was the best decision we could have made. In 2001 Bud decided to break out on his own and put up a mechanics shop on the property. Most people thought it was an insane choice, but we are here for our 4th year and business is growing. The small community support is incredible! Living out here at D'Arcy meant the kids would be going to high school in Rosetown and that would be an adjustment as well. Probably more so for me, than for the kids! I was amazed that some of our high school teachers were still going strong. Right now the kids activities in school keeps us all busy, and somewhat up to date with those people who have stayed in the Rosetown community. Other than a lot of family time, our pets, and business keep us out of trouble. When we moved out to the farm we decided to look into getting St. Bernards. We now have two, a male and female. They are pretty amazing creatures, however they are more needy than children tend to be. Living on a farm would not be right if you did not have a cat or two. Well, we started with two, and have many more than that to date. Anyone looking to adopt a cat?! I chose to be a stay at home mom when we starte...Expand for more
d our family, and now that the kids are getting older I wonder what I could do with all the spare time I will have. When I have spare time I will let you know what I decide on. I am learning that the older they get the more they need you. Which suits me just fine. We do a lot of things as a family though. In the winter we like to ski. Both Bud and I got certified to instruct skiing a few years ago, and it came in handy when the kids got older. Not so that we could teach them, but so that we could keep up to them when we got away to the mountains. I forgot about the no fear factor that young people have. In the summer there is a lot of motorcycling that goes on. Bud has been biking for years, and I thought I would give it a try. I got as far as getting my bike learners, and owning my own bike. But as time went on I found I liked to be a passenger more than the one shifting gears. Our eldest son has decided to take over ownership of my 750 Virago. Now I can lose some sleep, and get better aquainted with my hairdresser as she covers the grey hair. The joys of parenthood. Hobbies that I have enjoyed this last few years have been gardens, crocheting, and creative writing. I decided that some of the more hilarious moments in life should be in writing, so I have started some classes. I hope that it will produce some fruit. Well I can hardly believe it has been 20 years since graduation. I hope that you are all doing well, and finding life is everything you hoped it would be. I was hoping that there would be a reunion this summer, but it is not looking like that will happen. Maybe some of you will be around during Homecoming. It would be really great to catch up! Michelle
