Michelle's Story
Life
I was in the Air Force for 17 years and am medically retired. I was married for 13 years. I have 3 children, Tyler (1991), Brandon 1994), and Miriah (1996). My three kids and I live in Eagle River, Alaska and have no desire to leave here to the dismay of my families. I finally finished my Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology. All of my kids play soccer, the boys wrestle, Miriah does volleyball and XC sking, all of them mountain bike and all of them snowboard. We had been the primary handlers and trainers for a couple of the mushing kennels up here, but that ended when I got hurt. My ex went through pubertagain and left for California with his girlfriend in 2004. The kids run 5K's every year starting with the Frostbite Foot Race in February. Tyler runs the MT Marathon mountain race on the 4th of July. The kids all run and I walk to keep track of them - in fact Miriah ran it first when she was 2 years old and hasn't missed one since. Yes, it is held outside. With soccer, football, wrestling, mountain biking, school, music (all of the kids are gifted there), and church activities, we keep pretty busy schedule.
School
High School was torture for me. I hated it most times. My life was too crazy with my real parents and my brother who most of you probably don't even remember. Although I learned a lot, it is not an experience I ever want to repeat. Ever.
College

ished a Bachelor's of Information Technology August 2004.
Workplace
Work, when have I not worked. When I was going to GMI I worked in "Happy Valley" in Flint at the Motor and pressed metal plants. That's how I paid my tuition. When the plants closed, I joined the Air Force as an Engineering Technician and learned to survey, draft, write contracts, inspect construction, inspect bidges, roofs, and certify Airfields for Landing with 31+ passengers. I've spent time at the Kaparek Oil field in Prudoe Bay, have hid from a polar bear, have walked into the Yukon River, have seen Russia on a clear day from Shemya Island, spent som time in Cental Americaq, and the Far East. Been to Hawaii and various other places but never got to Europe. I shattered my leg in the fall of 2005 and haven't worked since. After they repaired it the first time, they found a bone tumor 6 weeks post op. I waited a year or so to have the tumor removed and had to start all over again with getting mu leg to work. I am finally walking again, but not very well. The next thing they want to do is remove some of the metal they put in to stabalize my leg...We'll see.
Military
My military life provided me with skills, training, and travel, I'd not be abled to easily repeat again. It also caused me to aquire permanent disabilities I haved to work around the rest of my life. While I was proud to serve my country and would do so again without a thought, I would have to be single without children to be effective.
