Michelle's Story

Hello Everyone, Thanks so much for including me in emails of lost people! It's marvelous to see old and familiar names, but darn if it isn't age "enhancing". I have lived a life I never dreamed I would realize and as a result, am extremely happy and satisfied with where I am. I returned to school and became a nurse at 49. I've been doing hospice nursing for the past 12 years and it's when I found my "raison etre". This blessing allowed me to fulfill another dream which I never thought possible - to travel to interesting and exotic places and meeting some of the most wonderful and fascinating people. I particularly love Morocco where I spend one or two months a year. The greatest thrill for me is to hit the Sahara, sling my leg over a camel and climb the big dunes at sunrise. I am very proud of the three great kids I have and the paths they have chosen. Among them, there are 7 grandchildren. At the moment, I'm sharing my life with Bella, a four month old Lab, who is so much fun! Ft Lauderdale has so many fond memories and I feel all of us shared a life that was envious, at the least, by today's standards! Wow, were we ever lucky to have that much freedom and fun. In 1990's I returned to Ft. Lauderdale briefly and one day I was checking out in a store. Suddenly, I heard "Michelle Georgevich" and wondered who the heck knew my maiden name. It was the cashier and I didn't recognize her but by golly she did me. Talk about someone having a photogenic memory! After a couple of years there, completing my nursing program, I discovered you can't go home again. I'm a big ...Expand for more
reader, a conservative political junkie, adore world music, love animals of all kinds, and all my penny jars have gone to pay for airline tickets and know enough of several languages to get me in BIG trouble! If I dare reflect on how I wish to be remembered, I don't think it would match the person I am today - a great sense of humor, hungry for knowledge, a lover of people, totally fascinated with this big world, thankful to God for showing me how to live life counterclockwise and teaching me what the word "rich" really means. Do I sound happy? You betcha! Would I change anything? Nothing comes to mind right now. Probably like many of you, I'm just getting warmed up and paving the way for another great 20 or 30 years. Retiring is out of the question for me, for one reason I need the money, and secondly working is what keeps me going. As I told my Administrator, "I plan to stay here until you tell me its time to turn in the keys". Working in hospice, one can truly make a difference in a life and the joy is immeasurable when one has done so. I spend lots of time on the internet. Very partial to a Mac. Over the past few years have worked on putting a novel together but can't seem to finish it. It's somewhat of a romantic adventure with intrigue. I suppose that's mostly from fear of failure but on the other hand, just cannot find a final chapter that works yet. Well, it's going to be a lot of fun trying to place names with faces after all these years and more fun, after I do, reading your stories. Wishing you all good health and lots of happiness in the years ahead.
