Michelle's Story
Life
Where to start; I guess right after graduation. Immediately went to work in LayAway @ Southside K-Mart, then I joined the National Guard. Shortly thereafter, I hit some life altering and unexpected changes in which I went in the Army full time.
I spent a total of 6 years in the Army and my overseas tour was 3 months in Honduras & 3 months in Panama during the Noriega affair. Interesting, to say the least.
In '88 while in Honduras I met my now ex-husband and in '89 we had a little girl, Jeannine and moved to his hometown in Cambridge, MD. We were married 3 years, (divorce issues I'd rather not), and now we're friends after he finally grew up!
Broken heart led me to my mother's in Tampa, FL and this is where I've been ever since. Always wanted to make it back home to Wicksburg, but life happened. I am now married to a good man born and raised in Tampa and has no intention of leaving. I'm not real thrilled to live in this town, not enough country for me here. The upside, Mama is 2 miles down the road, I have a wonderful job that I've been with since 1995. We are a wholesale division for Retail Cigar Shops around the nation, including Smokies there in Dothan.
As of now (Sep.2005), I have a 5 year old little girl, Rhiannon Rose & a 3 year old son Da...Expand for more
wson Loric and my oldest daughter Jeannine is 16. Where did my life go?! LOL And now, my daughter Jeannine had a baby boy, Elijah Isaiah, Sept. 18th. Can't believe I am a grandmother, I've settled on the title "Mimi" that way it doesn't sound 'old'. LOL
I do miss home, but I don't think I'd change a whole lot in my life. I think we've all had our ups and downs along the way, but those come to us without saying. That's just life.
I pray that God continues to Bless my life and that of all those I have known. He owes us nothing, and gives us Everything! For that, I am forever greatful.
I have learned that life doesn't always turn out the way we wish, but how God places us where we need to be at that moment in life.
So I feel now, that I am stuck here in Tampa for a reason. Once my role here is finished, who knows.....That is when I trust my faith.
I hope you all are where you would like to be, or are at least happy where you are in life.
I now understand what Mrs. Aman meant about our life at Wicksburg was nothing more than our Educational Playground. Wish I was back there sometimes.
As Mark Will's sings in his song "Nineteen Something": ...."it was 1980 somethin' in the world that I grew up in......I wouldn't change those days for nothin'"
