Michelle's Story
Life doesn't always turn out the way you expect. I never expected to hear the following words - "you have cancer."
When I was 23 I was diagnosed with Stage IIIA Hodgkin Lymphoma. Unfortunately, my life as I knew it stopped. I am thankful that the same day I was told I had cancer I was ordered to Alexandria Hospital to check-in for a bioposy the next morning. I had no time to think, run and/or hide. months undergoing chemotherapy and experiencing all the things that come along with it. I had to take a year off work - there were days I was too sick to get out of bed. The great news is that I am alive today .... I am a survivor and loving the life that I have.
My family and I moved to sunny southern CA a year after my dad died in 1997. I do miss the DC area! But chose to live life looking forward rather than back!
