Michelle's Story
LIFE
Married since May 1988, to Phil Wilson. We have no kids, but have 2 cats, and live in East York. Phil and I are retired Postal Workers, I retired on my 57th birthday - August 26, 2011. I drive a Honda Accord - 2 dr 5 speed. No automatics for me! Still a bit of a smart-ass after all these years, but I love to make people laugh!
My husband PHILIP worked for Canada Post as a Postal Systems Tech. on the Flat Sorting Machines and reitred on July 27, 2012. He graduated from George Harvey Sec. School in 1972, went to Centenial College for 1yr. Then after 2 years of odd jobs, ended up in CPC. He used to play flute, with Art Hilliard, in the school band from 1968 to 1972.
We both enjoy taking drives in our 1928 Model A Ford Tudor during the summer season. The club has a website: look under 'model A owners' - they won't let you list a website here!

WORK
I was with the Post Office since 1980. I started as a Term Casual, sorting mail and 6 months later became a Full Time sorter at the South Central plant in Toronto. While there I mostly did sortation, but also worked in Special Delivery, Priority Post and then Registration. I left the plant around 1991 to become a Counter Clerk: selling stamps etc. I worked at various stations in the city. Then around 1993 I became a Relief Letter Carrier. It was difficult at first getting to know how to do the sortation and the delivery for the "walk" - and just when you figured it out, you'd get sent to do a different one. And not always at a station you had worked at before, either. I got my own route in 1998, at Toronto Depot One: One Yonge Street. I was there until August 2006, when I transferred back to a Clerk. I was happy with my route, but due to injuries and Management changing the routes (to make them no longer desirable) I decided enough was enough! I was on midnights at Willowdale Depot 2: 55 Tempo Avenue. My final workplace was Station K (Yonge & Eglinton) and I retired on my 57th birthday - August 26, 2011.
OUR CATS
OLIVER (R.I.P.): He was black, soft, silky, quite a showoff and was very vo...Expand for more
cal! He would 'carry on a conversation' and would sulk and talk back to you if you piseds him off. His favourite place to sleep was under the blankets like a big lump. He loved to be patted and get belly rubs. He would curl up in Phil's lap but not mine. The others got along well with him; they'd even playfight. AND, he gaves kisses on the nose! He was born on July 15 1996 and we got him when he was 6 weeks old. He died on February 28, 2013.
SNOWBALL (R.I.P.): He was pure white, was born to a Feral Mother, but you'd never know it. He was a kitten when rescued. He had quite an attitude sometimes. If pissed off, he would expel air through his nose as if he were annoyed or he'd hiss. Then he'd growl and occasionally try to bite. His voice used to be high and weak like a kitten. But as he matured he developed quite a vocabulary - probably learned from Oliver. At bedtime, he could be found lying between Phil & I, usually with my arm around him. That's the time he wanted to be petted and would purr and purr . . . He was born about 1999 and we' got him when he was 4. SNOWBALL DIED ON FEBRUARY 2, 2015, of Chronic Renal Failure - the same thing that killed Oliver.
CURRENT CATS
SUGAR: She's a big, fat Calico. All you have to do is look at her & she starts to purr. And she too gives kisses on the nose! But her mood can change in a flash! If something bugs her, she'll growl & hiss. We have trained her to go upstairs and onto the bed at night - yes, cats can be trained! She didn't like Snowball. He tried to be friends until the day he died, but she would not give in. We've had her since she was 4. She was born about 2001.
LUKE: He was born March 15, 2013 (2 weeks after Oliver died) and we got him from Toronto Cat Rescue when he was 11 months old. Very loving when he wants to be, quite independent, has a mind of his own and is as quick as a flash! I've never heard a cat with a voice like his - he squeaks! As he gets older, his vocabulary increase and his voice is louder. He does not meow - his voice is still a very distinct form of squeaks and trills. <3
