Michelle's Story

Life Well, I made it to 50! Can't say as I feel much different than before. Life is busy, busy, busy!! I love my life and I love what I do and I LOVE being a grandmother. I am a computer programmer and I love what I do although sometimes it takes too much of my time! But in the end it all seems to even out. I used to work in a hospital lab but switched careers in my mid-thirties. I live in Northwest Ohio (Toledo) and my son Jason and his daughter Annabelle (my beautiful grandbaby) live about mile or so from me - I can't believe I am a grandmother and let me tell you it is a blast!! She is my joy and when I am having a bad day nothing can be better except hearing her sweet little voice saying "I Love You Nana". (I know - sappy but great!) She lights up my world for sure. My house has lots of flower beds for me to enjoy my favorite past-time: Landscaping and Gardening. I lived in Cincinnati for 21 years and after getting a divorce in 1999 started life over in HOLY Toledo - Jamie Farr country and home to "Tony Packo's" (remember MASH?) and the Mud Hens. I rode motorcycles for 25 years but gave it up after I moved to Toledo - although I do still keep my endorsement on my license just in case. I travel quite a bit with my 3 best friends from Cincinnati. Each year we take a couple of long weekend trips - anywhere from camping to Las Vegas to taking in Chicago and then every two years one of us picks a destination for a long trip. In February, 2007 we did New Orleans (during Mardi Gras & what a riot that was to see!!) & from there we took a cruise to Cozumel. We jus...Expand for more
t got back from a trip to California and spent time on Catalina Island and stayed on a refurbished yacht in Marina Del Rey. Not sure what our next trip will be but I know that it will be fun whatever we do. My paternal grandmother is now in assisted living and loves it! She just turned 94 last year and is still going strong. Hopefully, I have inherited her genes! So far so good. I try to get down to Carlisle at least once a month for the weekend to visit. My mother passed away in April, 2005 and my father still lives in Dayton. There is still so much to do and see in this life and I am going to do and see as much as I can before the party is over. You only get one shot at this merry-go-round that we call life and I learned a long time ago that it all passes by way too quickly so I savor each moment - good and bad! I hope someday to come back home. But for now I know I am where I need to be. The older I get the more I realize that all things great and small happen for a reason and it makes us who we are today. And I wouldn't trade my life for anything! School: I attended the Valley View School System from first grade (1966) until the 7th grade (1973) I attended the Carlisle School System from 1974 - until my graduation in 1978. Some of my fondest memories today were the years I went to Valley View. I made some very good and best friends there. I ran across an old box of letters that I received after I moved from there and it reminded me of all the good friends and good times I had growing up in Germantown. I would love to see some of my old friends again.
