Michelle's Story
Life
After high school I joined the US Navy. I went to boot camp in Orlando, Florida, school in Meridian, Mississippi, and was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan and later at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland. I then attended college for a couple of years in Columbia, South Carolina. One of the sailors from Pax River came looking for me and I left to marry him (after he left the service). We moved to the Eastern Shore of Maryland and started a family. Once we started we had a hard time stopping so we now have 5 beautiful children ages 10-18. We owned a chicken farm for almost six years and now my husband owns and operates a full service mechanic garage. I am back in college to finish my bachelor's degree in elementary education (I should have finished before I married, but hey, did you do it all right? Nothing will be better than my family, teaching or whatever is extra. Write to ask me more if you are still curious or looking for an old classmate to chat with.
School
Twelve years is a lot to cover in one paragraph! I liked school most of the time. I liked talking, playing, and having a good time. Taking and passing c...Expand for more
lasses was fun, too, but obviously, secondary for me. My favorite teacher was Miss Kerr, maybe because Algebra I was my favorite subject. I liked most of my teachers, but the art teacher had it out for me. How does someone flunk art??! Speech team, plays, band, and going to football games were some of my favorite extracurriculars. I often wonder what it would be like to live in the same place I grew up. I left Ohio at 18 and have only been back for family visits. I have been married to one man for more than twenty years and we have five children, all teens now. Sometimes it is hard to be the parent when you remember how much fun being a kid was. I stayed home with my kids for fifteen years and now enjoy teaching middle school math.
Currently
Currently it is snowing outside...in Ohio that is commonplace and gets annoying, here in Delaware it is usually a welcomed break in a hectic life. Snow rarely stays on the ground for more than a couple of days. Although in 1986 and again last year, 2010, we had two blizzards each of those years. The snow was up to my knees. Oh yeah, there was a blizzard in 1979 also.
