Michelle's Story
My life since high school...
After graduating from The University of Michigan in 1977, I lived in Kyoto, Japan for one year teaching English. I never went back to live in Michigan. From Japan I moved to Houston, Texas where I taught Special Education for less than a year. My passion for traveling lead me to accept a Flight Attendant position with Air Florida in 1980, and that brought me to Miami, Florida. This is where I've been until 2011. I met Ron Deblinger in 1982 on a blind-date and we married in 1987. He was a native of Miami Beach. Ron originated the concept of messages mixed with music for telephone "on-hold" lines ("Promotions on Hold"). I helped build the business for many years then I switched careers to a Stay-at-Home Mom after the birth of our first son. ric (2000). Victoria was adopted from a Russian orphanage at age 4. It was an emotional roller-coaster experience with a happy ending. Our lives changed drastically when Ron passed away on November 19, 2001. Ron had a heart attack at age 56. I have been a Widow for 7 years now. I went back to work at our company in 2003 and sold it in December 2008. I was accepted to law school for the fall 2009 at Loyola University in New Orleans (but after long consideration I decided not to go). Matthew is now a Senior at FSU, Victoria is a Freshman at Miami Dade College and Eric is in 6th grade. We have two dogs and a turtle. After living in Miami for 31 years, I moved to Boca Raton, Florida in June 2011. My parents and siblings and their families live in Houston, Texas. I still have relatives and a few friends in Michigan. (Updated October 15, 2011).
