Miguel's Story

Ok, am here for the second time. Why can't I figure my way around this site? Anyway, this is Miguel Ahrens. Name change to Pacheco is a long one, involving adoption and being considered either dead or a draft dodger by my country of origin, Argentina. I live and work in Durango, Colorado. I have three kids. My first son lives in Durango. He provided my first grandson, Nathan. My second, Jake, lives in Mexico City and came up with my second grandson, Leonardo. My daughter, Bonni, lives in Durango and is a senior at Ft. Lewis College. She has not had any children and it would be just fine with me if she kept it that way. I recently (re)married a younger woman and am convinced this has special and unique, therapeutic, perhaps even religious, qualities. I am a very happy man, with a very active lifestyle. I am happiest if I'm camping in my Syncro, perhaps in the depths of Mexico, or rowing crazy rapids on the Salt, Colorado, Green or some such river in the Southwest. Corporate jargon and conversation peppered with acronyms are not my things, but ...Expand for more
rather, the things of the walking dead. Just throwing this and that to give you an idea of who I am. I arrived in San Antonio in 1968, just in time for Hemisfair 68. My father had just finished a 2 year enlistment as a physician for the US Navy, in Key West, Florida, where I attended Sigsbee Park Elementary (66/67, 67/68.) Before that, we were in Detroit, Michigan, and Bridgeport, Connecticut, my first place of residence in the US, after emigrating from Argentina, in 1964. I never attended John Marshall High School, but rather attended Colonies North Elementary and Pat Neff with some of you who would later attend Marshall. Ahhh, those were the days of the Kickers and the Surfers. I'll never forget my first day at Pat Neff. This dick, sporting very pointed cowboy boots, gave me a little push and asked me if I was a Kicker or a Surfer, to which I responded with the question, 'well, what are you?' A Kicker, he says......'then I'm a Surfer! Later, I ended up at Antonian College Prep, where I did my 4 years, leaving all the crazy fighting for good.
