follow..., I'm up to 60 pushups. Lost 46 pounds. My knees need some work. -June 2011, well a staph infection side tracked me, nearly killed me, but I'm still kicking and moving forward. Left-sided cartoid exposure with anterior corpectomy of C3-4, anterior cervical fusion of C2-3 through C4-5 and C5-6 with Synmesh cage with allograft and anterior buttress plate C5. Posterior exposure C2 through C7, posterior segmental instrumentation and laminectomery C3 to 5, with local bone graft. Simply said, I'm a miracle of God, it's hard to believe he even knows me. Believe in miracles, because God grants miracles. He created the sun and the moon and saved me from the brink. Thank you God, I know how busy you are. Mike Devine. Master Chief Petty Officer Michael P. Devine was born in New Haven, Connecticut. He graduated from Hamden High School in 1969 , The Culinary Institute of America in 1971 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in August of 1971. Devine received recruit training at Great Lakes, Illinois. His first duty station was at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California with Attack Squadron 27 (VA-27) and Attack Squadron 155 (VA-155), deploying onboard USS Enterprise (CVAN-65) and USS Oriskany (CV-43) respectively. Upon reenlistment he was stationed at Naval Submarine Base, New London, Connecticut and attended Enlisted Submarine School. His first Submarine assignment upon graduation was USS Andrew Jackson (SSBN 619), where he completed Submarine qualification and earned his Submarine Warfare insignia “Dolphins”. Other assignments include USS Florida (SSBN 728), USS Ohio (SSBN 726), Commander Submarine Squadron Seventeen (CSS-17) and USS Alaska (SSBN 732). Devine was then assigned as Chief of the Boat (COB) on board USS Alabama (SSBN 731). Upon completion of this tour he was assigned to Staff Submarine Force U.S. Pacific Fleet as Force Career Counselor and assumed the duties as Staff Command Master Chief. He then served as Command Master Chief on the staff of Commander Submarine Squadron Twenty-Two(CSS-22) in LaMaddalena, Sardinia, Italy. He completed thirty-one years of Naval Service while attached to the staff of Commander Navy Region Hawaii in July of 2002. Devine’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy Achievement Award (three awards), Enlisted Submarine Insignia (Dolphins) and SSBN Strategic Deterrent Patrol Pin/Gold (26 patrols).".
