Life
Like the song says...."What a long, strange trip its been..."
I left all my friends in Roanoke and at Jefferson in `69 when my father got transfered to Tennessee. I enrolled in a small high school in Farragut where most of the kids lived on farms in the area. All the kids from the surrounding schools called us the "Farragut Farmers" because some of the kids actually drove tractors to school. ( Not that way anymore... most kids that go there now drive nicer cars than I do! ).
Graduated in 1972 and went straight into the workforce. Went back to school and went thru an apprenticeship for Tool and Die.
Got married in 1979 to a local girl. We have one son.
On weekends, we travel the area and hunt new places to ride our motorcycle, see new sights and meet new people along the way.
This summer, we have a motorcycle trip planned to Charleston, South Carolina. Although we have been there before during a summer vacation, this will be our first long distance trip on the bike. Plus, it will give us the opportunity to visit a few places and see a few different things that we might miss if we were in the ca...Expand for more
r, mainly because we will not be taking any Interstate roads. I think it will be quite interesting.....
In case you are wondering what we ride, its a 2006 Yamaha Roadstar Silverado. We have a lot of fun with it, plus it allows us to get out and not only get some fresh air and sunshine, and go some places where we have never been before, but it gives us time together. Plus we have met some really nice folks on the road.....
Lately, I've been considering retirement plans. But first, I have to get the knees replaced. One down, one to go! Therapy was a breeze, but it's something that MUST be done, otherwise you might as well not do it ( the surgery or therapy ). I got a small taste of what retirement is like when I had my left knee done, and let me tell you..... I LIKE it!!
I visit Roanoke on occasion, still have family and friends there. It's a beautiful area and I miss the quick access to the Parkway and all the sights that there are to see in the area, as well as the people.
Who knows...... maybe I'll see you at one of the Malls or downtown next time I'm in town.
