Military I got on a ship in California and we traveled for 30 days on the Pacific Ocean to get to our destination Saigon, Vietnam. I spent a year there working in MACV II Headquarters. I was assigned to the 12th DPU (Data Processing Unit) in Cholon, Vietnam. I had it really fairly easy but I also have a lot of SAD memories of things that I wish did not happen. It seems like it all was a bad nightmare or something. I was proud to serve the military but was sad that people were not proud that I Served they seemed to discard anything I would say about the war in Vietnam. For forty years I would not talk about Vietnam because people would think you were some kind of crazy person. It has been just in the last couple of years that I can really able to be proud of my service to this country. So I am now 71 years old the father of 7 wonderful children who are all grown-up and doing very well for the kind of Father that they had. Since returning home from Vietnam I have always been very touchy and anxious. I have a hard time trusting people and for good reasons. I have gone thru many self-help groups and counseling and feel that I can relax and trust God and people much more now than ever before. I also am the grandfather of 19 wonderful grandchildren. Praise the Lord. I am very active all year round. In the summer I play Golf and tennis and in the winter I play Racquette Ball. My Family and I have become very active christians. I was saved from a very scary life and very little hope at a Dave Wilkerson Crusade on November 18, 1972. I had returned from Vietnam was hospitalized at the Veterans hospital because of some bad skin disease that had been driving me bannanas. My arms, legs, and stomach was all inflammed and full of scabs from scratching. I went to alcohol for help again but it only made things crazyier. I was restless and wante...Expand for more
