Mike's Story
My story. Well, I'm getting older, so it's kinda long, hope I can remember it all... My wife, Arlene, and I have been married since 1977. We have two grown daughters and five grandkids who keep us very busy. I retired in May 2015, after 30 years as a Civil Engineer, 26 years at Placer County, CA and 4 years at Mather AFB, CA. I have a BS in Civil Engineering from Sac State and an AA in Drafting from Diablo Valley College. Growing up, I lived in West Covina, CA, where I went to kindergarten and 1st grade at Pioneer Elementary. In 1960, we moved to Upland, CA, where I attended Sierra Vista Elementary, Magnolia Elementary, Bethel Christian, Ontario Christian, Hawthorne Christian, and Pioneer Jr High schools (My parents weren't fans of CA...Expand for more
public education, but couldn't find a private school they liked either.) :) After my freshman year at Upland High, in 1968, we moved to Walnut Creek, CA, where I finished high school at and graduated from Ygnacio Valley High. After we got married, Arlene & I lived for short periods in Hayward, San Lorenzo, Antioch, and Rancho Cordova, before settling in Roseville for 21 years. For the last several years, we've been living in Pollock Pines, a little mountain community along Hwy 50 in the Sierras. We plan to stay here until we die, or until CA taxes and politics drive us out. I spend my time working on projects around the house, tinkering with cars, four wheeling, tent camping, RVing, and visiting our local wineries. Life is very good!
