Mike's Story
Family
Married the Girl next door and my best friend Sanda, We have 4 children Annie, Kelly, Bridget and Jacob. We stayed in Hanford California after I retired from the Navy so the children could all finish Highschool where they grew up. We have 4 grand children Aidan, Bret, Reagan and Keira who have become the apples of my eye.
On Feb 2, 2014 I lost my bride of 32 years after her long battle with cancer.
Military
I joined the Navy in 1977 before starting my junior year at Tigard High. Boot camp was in sunny San Diego and then 9 months in Millington TN, just outside of Memphis, Attending school as an Aviation Electricians Mate. orking on the A-7 Corsair. I made 1 Western Pacific cruise with the A-7's and spent 4 months in the Philippine Islands. VA-25 transitioned to the F/A 18 Hornet 1983 and became VFA-25. As 1 of the first two West cost squadrons to be fleet ready with the Hornet we made mini cruises on every Aircraft Carrier on the west Coast. I was selected to the Blue Angels in 1985 but, due to family commitments had to pass on the opportunity. I completed 6 Western Pacific Cruises of 6 months or longer including the Desert shield cruise on the USS Independence. I retired in 1997 after 20 years as an Aviation Electrician Senior Chief Petty Officer (E-8).
I worked as an industrial electrician for a few years and have been the maintenance manager for a number of corrugated companies. Pacific Southwest Container.
