Mike's Story
Working at O'Charlery's restaurant, he saw her coming out from the back of the kitchen one Friday night, and asked Brad, the guy beside him who she was because he had to get to know her. Mike was a cook and Lisa was a server, and they started out just talking at work as fellow co-workers would. They went to Chris' party one HOT summer night to play cards. Lisa still thinks Mike was cheating at Hi-Lo. They took a break to talk on the couch, and realized the house was so hot, they had to get out of there, so they took off from that party together, and that was the start of their relationship.
When Mike and I took a trip to Gatlinburg in November 2006. There was a long 6 hour car ride down to the Smoky Mountains, and I couldn't wait to get to the cabin to relax and settle in. When I walked in the front door of the beautiful cabin overlooking the mountain side, there was a dozen long-stemmed red roses in a vase on the counter with a note attached saying "As we begin again, I look forward to getting to know you better..."
On February 13, 2007, there was a big snowstorm in Cincinnati that forced me to stay home and work on my computer . Mike also happened to be off that day and over at my apartment. I was perplexed as to why he kept leaving the apartment to...Expand for more
drive around in the snow, until I realized that he was probably buying my Valentine's Day present at the last minute. At about 4:00, I was trying to wrap up some emails, and Mike kept bugging me, so I told him "Don't you have anything better to do?" He gave me a big grin and said "Well actually, I do..." He then got down on one knee and pulled out the rosebud shaped box and asked me to marry him. Once I figured out what was happening and that it wasn't just a fake flower he was giving me, a flood of emotions came to me and I said "YES!" Mike decided that proposal was sweet, but he could do better. Later that night, in the middle of Jag's Restaurant, he told me how much he loved me and wanted to be with me, then got down on his knee to propose (again). This time, he got an enthusiast "YES!" as well as the approval of the witnessing diners.
After a period of time apart, Mike sent me a test message one night asking if I was still working for GE. I replied to him, and we spent the night catching up with each other. We decided to meet the next day at BW3's to continue to catch up, and the sparks were flying across the table. The next night, he decided to have a "fiesta" at my apartment, and brought over all the fixings, including the dreaded lime-flavored chips.
