Mike's Story
For 145 days my wife and I walked around Lake Superior. April 29 to September 18. It was not only the greatest adventure of our life with daily inspiration and constant contact with nature, it also helped us deliver some of the most important messages that we could share. First, there are two elements that no one can exist without - clean air and clean water and there is no reason to compromise on the quality of either. Yes you can have a clean environment and a good economy, but you have to be committed to it.

andchildren gave us a window on the future and we saw a need to leave them something important as a legacy. Clean, fresh water is the best gift we can conceive of and the challenge to live a life full of adventure and personal goals is the next.
We received a lot of media attention and that helped to tell our story. We knew that we could not sit home and get people to think about the Lake Superior and freshwater. We needed to frame our issues within a story that people could enjoy, reach out to and share.
I hope that this has also reached some of my classmates and that you will share a pride in the fact that an old Central grad made this 1555 mile journey with his wife, a graduate of Regina.
