Mike's Story
Hello to anyone taking the time to read my update. I currently reside in Crystal River, Florida. I moved down here in July 2008 when I accepted a teaching position. Those who know me are probably chuckling right now and they would be right to do so. Much has happened in my life since most of you last saw me or heard from me. Prior to teaching I was doing some exciting work in the field of Nano-tech. We did a great deal of work for the Department of Defense. I know most of you are probably a little surprised at that. As I aged my interest in science heightened and I pursued a college education much later than most people do. I ended up with a Bachelors in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from EMU. I was involved in some research projects as an undergrad at EMU studying Bats. Specifically (Myotis Sodalis) which is the Indiana Bat (an endangered species). We were studying spatial and temporal relationships. I went to work in Ann Arbor for the Nano-tech compan...Expand for more
y I mentioned earlier after graduation from EMU. After about 2-1/2 years there I wanted to get into teaching and started researching that possibility. After flying down to Orlando to attend a teacher job-fair in Lakeland, that goal came to fruition. While all the crap I gave my teachers in high School has come full-circle on me now (I certainly deserve it). I love it in Florida and am enjoying myself and life very much these days. My spare time is spent in the water as I live only 6 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. I am also a certified scuba instructor since 2001. I haven't used it though. I love to dive, snorkel, scallop...hell anything that gets me in the water. I spend a lot of time stargazing at night (astronomy is also a passion of mine). The dark skies here are ideal for observing. I have been in a few serious relationships but never married and have no kids. I hope this note finds you well. I hope life has been good to you.
Mike
