Mike's Story
After leaving home and school in 1972 and joining the Marine Corps, I did a lot of traveling, mostly in Southeast Asia. After I left the Marines in 1976, I landed in Grants Pass Oregon for a while and other places around the northwest and Idaho. In 1983, I moved back to Paso Robles and worked various construction jobs there mostly as an Electrican. In 1986, I started a career with the California Department of Corrections. I worked at several different prisons from Tehachapi to Pelican Bay at Crescent City. ...Expand for more
I retired in 2007 as a Facility Lieutenant and took a job in Afghanistan with a Singapore based company training Afghan Prison employees. That was nearly 2 years ago now and it's been a real learning experience thus far. It's not a bad job once you get used to the Rockets, IED's, and mortar attacks. I'm married to the greatest and most beautiful woman in the world who is taking care of the kids and house back in Winchester Oregon. Hopefull in about three more years I will be out of hear and really retired.
