Musick Named WIU Cultural Events Coordinator
MACOMB, IL - - Mike Musick is the new cultural events coordinator for Western Illinois University's College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC), as of July 1, according to Dean Paul Kreider.
He succeeds Steven "Le" Alexander, who served as interim cultural events coordinator since Jan. 14, after Christi Steelman, who had served Western
for more than seven years, was named the executive director of the Springfield Area Arts Council in January.
As COFAC's cultural events coordinator, Musick (pronounced music) will work with the Performing Arts Society, which includes community and University volunteers who are patrons of the arts and are dedicated to advancing arts programming at Western Illinois University. PAS raises funds through
memberships and social fundraising to support arts programming, which includes the Youth Performing Arts Series (YPAS) and Western's signature
yearlong series, the Bureau of Cultural Affairs (BCA), as well as other arts-related events. He will serve as adviser to the BCA.
"We are pleased to welcome Mike Musick to the COFAC team. He brings to Western many years of exceptional producing and theatrical experience,
appropriate academic credentials and much enthusiasm and energy," said Kreider. "We enthusiastically look forward to his leadership of the BCA and know that he will fit in with the rest of the administrative team to further the goals and mission of the college."
Musick comes to Western Illinois from Shawnee, KS, where, for the past eight years, he was the fine and cultural arts manager for the Johnson County Park
