Mike's Story

Life Let's see 20 years in 100 words or less... I finished school, played football for the Colts Junior Football team and blew out my knee. I worked in a warehouse for a few years and then started working with handicapped adults. Right now I'm working at a school my wife and her sister started, I get to do all the jobs that haven't really been assigned to anyone. This year I'm the janitor, accountant, phys ed teacher and occasionally a preschool teacher and in all my free time I drive a school bus. It's usually fun until everything starts to overlap and then it's a bit of a scramble to get it all done but it has worked out so far. I have two boys 13 and 15 so I get my share of driving around taking them to places. My older boy likes to fish and we spend a lot of time at the river my youngest one is into gymnastics and just started acting. We have one dog which is kind of strange for us, we did have up to eight pets, dogs, birds, fish and rabbits at one time, I think we just need a break and to get a little bit more freedom to get away. More later... Workplace I got my warehouse job and was on my way to the top. After 10 years and only getting to lower middle it was time to move on.(That's what they said when they gave me my severence package) I work for a few months in odd jobs and then started working with mentally challenged and brain injured people. It was a great job, teaching social skills, yes me,We hung out at different places and tried to show our clients what was appropriate and what wasn't.This meant we were paid to have coffee, play pool, go to th...Expand for more
e mall, parks, etc., all the demanding things. If only they would have paid more and I could afford to pay all my bills every month. My wife had started her school and needed a temp preschool teacher when hers quit. I was starting to burnout after working as many hours as possible with our clients and decided to help her out. It's been 9 years now and still haven't left.I seem to get all the jobs no one else has been assigned to. I have been working as a phys ed teacher at my wife's school. It has been a lot of fun. Our main goal is to get the students active in something. We do a little of everything to introduce then to a big variety of sports. We have started a volleyball team and I get to coach, it only been 25 years since I've played so I'm definately qualified. lol. The team is improving and having fun so it all going to be good, just a lot of stress for now. I can't wait for basketball/no experience, soccer/less experience than basketball. I do have Daun Daum as my role model so had bad can it be? The parents are pretty good here so I think I'll have a few assistants so it shouldn't be too bad. ----------- 2008 This year I am definatley feeling old, my son turns 18 and graduates so there are a lot of changes happening. I'm still doing phys ed and coaching at the school. Our teams have been really small since a lot of students moved from the school and it's been a little stressful trying to get enough players to field a team. Our basketball team had to fold this year because we didn't have enough players. We are going to play exihbition games instead.
