In 1986 graduated from the Police Acadamy and began working for the Pittsburg Police Department until 1992. Opened Two sports bars and a deli in the Modesto Turlock areas owned and operated until 2000. Sold ownership and began teaching and coaching basketball at Central Catholic High School in Modesto.
