Michael's Story
After H.S. moved to Washington, DC and worked for Metropolitan Police Department. [1st half career - Mobile Crime Lab (known as CSI work today); 2nd half Data Processing (Computer System specialist/ programmer/ database administrator/ program analyst). Retiring from the Fed in 1992. Having already started a consulting firm.
NOTE: I thank God and the Fed government for giving me the diverse opportunities and expertise. I also have to thank all those who personally guided me into the career path that I followed. I need to recognize Henry Belson and his wife, Marilyn, (Henry passed in 1985 and is buried in Arlington Cemetery; both of them are always in my memory), a special neighbor, physicist and WW2 Veteran, who guided me in the early days toward my final career - database consulting. Another special thank you to MPDC Police Chief Issac Fulwood (also deceased - but always in my memory), who made a special exemption for my continual work in Data Processing (a civilian job) as a uniformed police officer.
Started Database Consulting Firm, in 1985, while still under the employ of Fed Government. After retiring, continued to do database consulting work throughout the world (especially in 9 Asian countries) for another 25 years - building database systems around the world. pany "IT in Asia", It has 72 employees, in nine countries, I also had the honor, due to the expertise I acquired while working for the Federal Government and continuing as a consultant, of sharing that expertise through speaking across 132 countries. That same expertise gave me the opportunity to become a published author, writing many Database, Mathematics and a series of 'Doing Business in .... (Asian Countries) books.
They have done quite well over the years and many are still in publication today.
My wife, Arni, and I, raised three boys - now full grown and out on their own. All are successful, in their own right. Our youngest, received his Masters of Mathematics at the age of 17.
After retiring, in 1992 from the Fed, I traveled throughout the world, due to consulting and lecturing, until returning to the USA, full time in 2002, From then, I've continued writing several additional computer database books and a series of focused math books on advanced topics for gifted children. I have spent the last 14 years, teaching gifted children from 3rd grade through high school, in programming and mathematical subjects from rapid math methods to higher order subjects, like Algebra, Calculus, and Theoretical Mathematics.
Now, I'm enjoying retirement, while still actively staying busy, doing research and volunteer work.
