Mikki's Story
Hi,everybody! I'll start with my motto (not original,though): Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand and martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming - Whew, what a ride!!!!!
When I left FSU, I married and moved to New Jersey. I had one daughter, Jamie, and she's 40. (Good grief, can that be possible?) I have three grandkids, Josh, Victoria and Wyatt. Josh is in college majoring in music. He's quite an accomplished musician, so I'm hoping he'll make it big and support his grandma!! Victoria is 15 and a sophomore. She's a beautiful red head like her mom, and is a trumpet player. Wyatt, who was named in honor of my father, is 11 and loves sports. He's a cutie and redheaded, too! I was married for nine years, got him through school, and decided I had done my duty by him. So, sent him packing and started my life. I went back to school and got my first nursing degree, became a registered nurse and loved it. Then I got a bachelor's in nursing and then a master's. for a long term care and rehab facility in Atlanta. Mom and Dad retired from the Marine Corps in 1968 and moved first to Pittsfield, Mass, and then to Athens, GA. Dad was housing director at UGA for a time, but got tired of cleaning up after Frat boys! They moved to Atlanta in the early 70's and we all just followed them here. I've lived in the burbs of Atlanta since 1976. My Mom lives about 15 miles from me and is doing well. Still playing lots of bridge. We lost my Dad three years ago to cancer, and I miss him still. My sister, Lindsay, lives in Atlanta and my brother, Marc, lives in Cape Coral, FL. I keep up with my best friend Vickie from Leon High School. I've just been reunited with my sweet friend, Sue Ward Still, from Dougherty High School in Albany, GA. Wow, the memories! And STILL having fun!! I've learned to sail and love it. Have to use someone else's boat, though! I played a lot of tennis but haven't for a while. I took golf lessons, have the left handed clubs, but haven't quite gotten there yet! I do a lot of walking, love to dance (always have), and all things fun. Enjoy an evening of jazz and martinis with friends, movies, theater, concerts.
