Mildred's Story
Life
For those who were at the reunion some years back, you won't be surprised that I am still living in Arizona and still teaching in an adult education program. I came to Arizona after spending 4 years in the Air Force, stationed near Phoenix.
How did I end up in the Air Force? Following a short stay in Marion, Iowa, (after graduating from Geneva College in Pennsylvania) I decided it was time for a change. My degree in German Studies hadn't resulted in a clear career goal. Why not get some training and travel courtesy of Uncle Sam?
Four years later, after training, travel, working maintenance on F-15 aircraft, and an occasional stint in an office setting, I left the Air Force and moved to Tucson to attend the University of Arizona. I became interested in teaching English to speakers of other languages. That led me to Pima County Adult Education, where I first volunteered, then became employed.
The rest, as they say, is history. I have continued to work in adult ed here in Tucson. Most of the students I work with now are pursuing GED's or trying to improve skills in order to enter vocational training.

t I am a real ham. I love performing. I started with voice lessons and a couple of recital performances. Then, I discovered a standup comedy class at a local club. Graduation was a performance that was attended by a group of my friends. They encouraged me to keep pursuing my interest in comedy. Since taking the class, I have had the opportunity to emcee several work-related events. I even did a standup routine for a singles' group. That may be the reason none of the men in the group have asked me out.
The next step in pursuing my interest in comedy was a class in comedy improvisation. The instructor has a little studio here in Tucson, near the University of Arizona. The classes are a blast!
I love the weather, the culture, and the people here in Tucson. I've made some great friends, most of whom are former roommates. I've shared my home with university students from Japan, Korea, China, and Indonesia. It's been a great experience, but I would still like to leave the single life and settle down with a godly Christian man.
Those of you who have been through divorce, the struggles of keeping a marriage together, or the daunting task of raising children, are probably asking why. 'Cause I want to be a step-grandmother, that's why!
