Milton's Story

Life currently live in Houston NW area. I am retired, bought a bay boat and enjoy fishing in the Galveston area. I have 2 sons and 3 grandsons. My wife still works as an RN. I still have brothers and a sister in Bryan, two brothers in Caldwell, one in Dripping Springs, and two in the Houston area. My first ever car was a 1963 VW Beetle purchased new in Karlsruhe, West Germany where I was stationed in the US Army. I paid $1126.00 US for a new US Export model. The car was shipped back to Houston when I returned to the US from Germany. I later traded the VW in on a 1964 Chevy Malibu. Latest gossip: Well I'm now a big 72 and still very much alive. I had major surgery in Nov 2014. Open heart for aortic valve replacement with pace maker included. Have gained back most weight I lost and feeling fine. This old horse is ready to run again. Cant wait till warmer weather for some fishing. School 12 years public school in Bryan School system. College Associate Degree from Georgia Military College. BS Computer Science from Roosevelt University, Chicago. Workplace why work?? I'm RETIRED!! ( I did work for Motorola for 21 years and thoroughly enjoyed it. 9 of those years were in Hawaii.) Military Oct 1961 - Feb 1982, US Army. Retired as MSGT E8 2 years in Viet Nam. 3 1/2 years in Germany. 3 1/2 years in Italy. 3 1/2 years in Hawaii. (I relocated 11 times in 20 years) I always wanted to be a millionaire when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a bad idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. I'm still working on that million. Well I sort of gave up on that million but am striving to leave a good legacy for my grandkids. When I'm upset or tired or both, I just relax, think about palm trees and cool blue beaches (in Hawaii) If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have good coffee, reserved parking, and exellent benefits to be able to deal with the day-to-day stuff. My Dad is my hero, a quiet, honest, hardworking man who didn't take bs from anyone nor did he try to bs anyone( My Dad passed away in 2000. all, boxing, fishing, NHRA drag racing. in an effort to save my kids and grandkids from the hardships I had as a kid, I pretty much spoiled them! I'm retired so I wish to leave a decent legacy for my kids & grandkids My best friend would tell you I'm fiercely loyal, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as frivolous and flirty. When it comes to dress and style, comfort is the name of the game. I'm strictly a casual kind of guy. My most special award is that I graduated from Roosevelt U in Chicago with 3.57 GPA, and was selected to National Honor Society. In 10 years, I hope to be still healthy. I'm going to get there by living a wholesome life and taking care of myself. My first job was as a painter's helper, where I got paid $1.50/hr to clean paint brushes. What I remember most about it was hard, dirty work. I just bought a new home in Houston NW(Copper Lakes area) off West Road and Barker-Cypress.(2008) UPDATE; wife is no longer working; now at home on dialysis every night 9hrs. she has been diabetic since age 18. Our oldest grandson is attending Texas State U in San Marcos working toward a BSN Nursing degree. My wife Beth is an RN and our grandson sees her pay stubs, so he's going for it. I gave my boat to my oldest son in Austin and my Trailblaser tow vehicle to my youngest son here in Houston. So I now I fish with my nephew. I had open heart surgery in Nov 2015 to replace my aortic and mitral valves and got a pacemaker thrown in. Am doing fine; back to mowing, trimming and fertilizing, doing dishes, cooking and taking care of Beth and the younger grandsons. I'm back to my jr year football weight {176), and gave up on that million Dollar goal. Health Care as you all know don't come cheap, WE still live in Copper Lakes addition, off Barker Cypress RD good ole Houston. UDDATE: I lost the Love of my Life on 25 April 2017 to complications associated with diabetes, a mild stroke, and pancreatic cancer, stage 4. We( my 2 grandsons and I)will always be thankful for the great memories we have of our life with our Mimi
