This isn't a bio, just some thoughts on an incident that occurred while in high school that had a profound effect on my life. Prior to the back surgery that kept me out of school in tenth grade, I was invited to a party at Tom and Mary Currie's house by Sue Johnson, now Sue McManus. I was molested at that party. Now we know so much more about the effects of molestation/rape/sexual abuse on children. It changed me over night and I was never the same again. any people in the world are dealing with trauma, thus these advances are so important. You don't have to be a victim of war to experience trauma.
My counselor and I are working on a book. It is my hope that people can recognize the symptoms of trauma and get help in new techniques such as Somatic Experiencing. If you have a relative, child or grandchild whose behavior changes or has depression or anxiety, look into trauma. What one person feels is traumatic may not apply to someone else.
If I hurt anyone because of the changes I went through after being molested at the Currie's party, I apologize. I think I hurt myself more than I hurt others.
