Mishell's Story
Mishell K. Magnusson, CIC, CISR, AAI, CPIA, FIPC
Mishell is an owner of KJM Consulting & Training, Inc. in Munnsville, New York. KJM specializes in providing a broad range of high quality training programs to insurance agencies; insurance companies and banks throughout the north east. These programs, normally designed for Continuing Education credits, cover all areas of the insurance & banking business, providing comprehensive education at all levels including entry level insurance; customer service; commercial sales & service; personal sales & service as well as management techniques. In addition to the customized training KJM also provides consulting services focusing on E&O; Procedure Manual development and implementation; and Agency Management training techniques.
Mishell is the bi-monthly author of "Pro CSR" for PIA Management Services Inc. New York and New Jersey Professional Insurance Agents magazine along with a contributing author to Wisconsin Professional Agent; Professional Insurance Agents of Florida; Professional Insurance Agents of Indiana, Inc. and The Professional Insurance Agent of Nebraska/Iowa. Her class presentations have also been featured in National Underwriter Magazine.
Mishell is also a contributing editor to Agents of America (a non-profit organization designed to educate agents on various issues) for a series "Insurance Agency Risk management - A comprehensive Guide to Avoiding E&O Claims. She has written two chapters in Book #2 as well as Book #3. These books are published nationally by West LegalEdcenter, a business of Thomas Reuters.
Mishell is also the author of a local central New York state historical book called âImages of America Madison and Hamiltonâ that has been sold world-wide. Due to her passion for history, Mishell was presented the Madison County Historical Society Volunteer of the Year Award in 2013.
Mishell was named the National Customer Service Representative of the Year by PIA National in 2004. She was also named one of 25 Women in L...Expand for more
eadership in New York State in 2004. Mishell graduated from Broome Community College with an Associates of Applied Science degree in Business Marketing Management. Mishell was named The 2013 Facilitator of the Year Nationally by the AIMS Society for her CPIA Presentations. Also in 2014 Mishell is being honored as the Insurance Professional of the Year by the Federation of New York Insurance Professionals with the Tina W. Bobak Award.
Mishell currently holds New York State Property and Casualty Brokers License; a New York State Life and Health Brokers License; a New York State Producer License to Act as a Consultant; a Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation; a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation; the Accredited Advisor of Insurance (AAI) designation; Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA) designation; and the Federation of Insurance Professional Counselor (FIPC) designation.
A member of the Associate Faculty of Certified Insurance Counselors, Mishell is a frequent speaker for Professional Insurance Agents (PIA) of New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire and Connecticut for CIC and CISR programs along with various other topics; a member of the AIMS Society for the instruction of the Certified Professional Insurance Agents courses; and for the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New Yorkâs Best Practices of Errors & Omission Loss Prevention course along with their various other programs.
In addition, Mishell works as an Adjunct Professor for Mohawk Valley Community College; Bryant & Stratton College; Madison/Oneida BOCES and State University of New York (SUNY) Oswego.
Mishell is a past president of the Federation of New York Insurance Professionals and is a board member of the Insurance Professionals of the Mohawk Valley; she is the immediate past president of the Madison County Historical Society along with being a member of The National Notary Association.
