Military
Five days after graduation, I was skinny, bald and in culture shock (having left Commack, friends and family for the first time ever). Graduated Air Force Basic, at Lackland AFB, TX and spent 2 months at Keesler AFB, MS for computer school and the rest of my enlistment was spent at Vandenberg AFB, CA, where I ran computers, operated heavy equipment and guarde...Expand for more
d missiles. The Air Force did not see computers a 'base essential skill', so they volunteered me to train as a Security Police officer and when I just started to enjoy that, they changed it so that I had to learn how to drive all sizes of trucks, bulldozers and other assorted heavy equipment. A good time was had by all!!!
It did prepare me for the civilian world, where I managed a computer facility and became a police officer. Thanks Uncle Sam!!!
