Mitchell's Story
After high school, I spent two years at Saddleback College (when all they had were temporary buildings) and a year at Orange Coast College before transferring up north to Humboldt State University in 1974. I loved the redwoods and would have stayed in that area but there was no work after graduation. So I moved to Seattle in 1977 on the urging of a college buddy who had moved there. ide this train (or plane in this case) into retirement.
I married a local girl in 1981 and have a 28 year-old daughter and 25 year-old son. Both are great kids (I guess theyÿre actually adults now) of whom I am very proud. The wife is great too. I better give her some kudos in case she reads this. She has to be great to put up with my ÿbsÿ.
I love the outdoors and Seattle is a great place to be for outdoor activities, if you donÿt mind getting a little wet. Hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing, and kayaking are my favorites. Especially kayaking. Two years ago I built a wooden kayak from a kit made by a company in Port Townsend, WA called Pygmy Boats. Check out their website sometime. They have great stuff. There are a lot of great kayaking routes in Washington and British Columbia so Iÿll have plenty of places to go for a long time to come.
