From the age of 8-9 I was cutting grass for some of my relatives for a wopping $5.00 a yard (front and back). I then convinced my uncle to hire me as a sackboy at his grocery store. I was paid $.50 an hour after school and on weekends and holidays. I worked my way up to stockboy and then assistant to the head butcher. when I was in Junior high I became a cashier...Expand for more
. When I was in High school I worked the late shift and would closed down the store with my Gandpa.
I then moved to Pettus and started working for Mr. Jim West who owned Fast Brake and Dairy Qween in Petus Texas. I started to work at the Fast Break store as a cashier (Mary Harms was my manager). I was then allowed to work at the Dairy Qween until I left for the Navy.
