Molly Smith:

CLASS OF 1970

Molly's Story

After graduating from George Peabody College (Vanderbuilt University in Nashville, Tennessee) I married a man from TN and moved to Maine. Special Education has been my profession, teaching mainly in Middle School and High School. In 1979 I was divorced and remained single until I met the love of my life Andrew Poulin in 1982. We married in 1985, living in the home Andy built from the 100 ft. pines timbers on our Green Pond property. Summers are idilic here with swimming, gardening, hiking nearby mountains, camping, and ocean visits. Winters become more challenging with advancing age. Bones ache more, but we still keep up snow shoeing to enjoy the outdoors. We have 2 children. Benjamin, 25 has a BS in Audio Engineering and in History. Now in his 2nd year of History MA at UMass-Amherst. He freelances doing sound for major concerts, ballets, etc. Married to my terrific daughter-in-law, a radiation therapist, they recently moved back to Maine. ches 2nd grade in Winston-Salem NC, in an urban school. It is amazing that by coincidence they both ended pursuing careers in education. I guess it runs in their blood, my parents both being educators and even their father worked a short time in schools having a degree in Early Childhood Education. The career path has been more winding for him leading from lumberjack, private pilot for a local airport, manufacturing, education, long-haul truck driver, and now community mental health worker. With retirement looming in the next 4 years so, our sights are set to warmer climates, possible Costa Rica where we have been fortunate to spend time and make Tico friends. That story remain to be written. I regret that I have been unable to attend the reunions, but have enjoyed seeing pictures, trying to guess who is who after all these years and physical changes. I have learned little bits about a few of you, your lives and fortunes. To all I wish good fortune and God Bless.
