Monica's Story
Life
I lived in Phoenix for 25 years (during which time I was a legal secretary in Downtown Phoenix for almost 13 years). I left Phoenix in 1990 moving "back" to Iowa (I was born in Iowa) and worked for the partner of a mid-size law firm in Iowa City, Iowa (where The University of Iowa is located). I worked there until 1992 and began working in the Department of Anesthesia at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, still in Iowa City, Iowa. I worked for the Chairman of the Department; when he left for Nebraska, I worked for the next Chairman. This Chairman left in 2004 to become the Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at M. D. exas. He asked that I continue to work for him in Houston, so I did. My cat, Sammie Sosa, and I came down here in the heat and humidity in 2004 and have been here since.
I am not married (divorced in 1984; no children) but do have a significant other. He and I have been together since 2005. I have no family here. I have visited Phoenix several times since I left in 1990 and have seen Susan Cruz on several of my visits.
I currently (as of 2008) work for a breast surgeon at MD Anderson Cancer Center. We have a Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program wherein I am the Program Coordinator. We also have a Breast Surgical Oncology Observership Program, of which I am also the Program Coordinator.
There is my life in a nutshell.
