Monica's Story
Kinda feel like I am filling out one of those online dating profiles, you know¿ ¿Tell a little about yourself and who you would like to meet¿. Well, I like long walks on the beach at sunset, warm cocoa by the fireplace, and horseback rides through the country side¿
But seriously, I still go by "Mokey" and I am now a 36-year-old single mom of a 17-year-old boy.
I grew up as a Navy brat and have lived and traveled in multiple countries and several states here in the United States. But there are still many more places to visit on my list of things to do, places to go, and people to see during the rest of my life.
I have always loved working with children so teaching has been my passion for as long as I can remember. Currently I am on call as a substitute teacher for several of the local schools. To provide a "teaching fix" until I have a school class of my own, I teach the upper elementary Sunday school class at my church. tions per year, work with the community youth groups, go on church mission trips and help with summer camps.
I am also member of the FCM (Fellowship of Christian Magicians) and dabble in close-up and parlor magic and clowning enhanced with balloon animal sculptures.
I didn't go right to college after high school. I started my degree when my son was a toddler, but had to put it on hold when his special needs demanded more of my time. Now that he is older and more self-sufficient I am finally able to return to complete my Bachelors in Education and receive my Teaching Credentials.
Looking to the future, I want to teach at the upper elementary level (4th 5th or 6th grade) preferably in my local rural community. I also want to continue my education on a part-time basis until I receive my Masters in Education.
Well that is me in a nutshell. I am looking forward to reconnecting with old friends.
Oh I almost forgot... Who I would like to meet... Hmmm, I think I will have to get back to you on that one.
