Monica's Story
Life
After graduation I started taking classes at OCCC. I worked on classes toward pre-nursing there. After two years of that I applied and was accepted in the nursing program at OU. I recieved a bachelor of nursing in 2000. After graduation I went to work at Children's Hospital in the pediatric intensive care unit. After two years of full time work, I applied for the Family Nurse Practitioner program at OU. I was accepted and graduated in May of 2005 with a Master's of Science.
In June 2005 I married my wonderful husband, Kirk, in a Las Vegas wedding. We took family and friends along and it was a lot of fun. We built a house in Mustang in October 2005 ...Expand for more
and having been living there since. I began a position in pain management as a nurse practitioner in October 2005. I am currently doing family practice. In case you don't know what a nurse practitioner is, a nurse practitioner is basicly the nursing equivalent of a PA. We diagnose, treat, prescribe, manage acute and chronic illnesses.
Now that I have my career under way we are ready to start a family. We have one dog. My husband rescued him the day after christmas last year. He is a yellow lab mix of some sort.
I guess you can say I have spent 7 out of the first 10 years after gradustion in school. It has all been worth it. I wouldn't change a thing.
