Monica's Story
I graduated from Morris Hills 1966,. Graduated from Southern California Bible College (now called Vanguard University) in Costa Mesa, CA, with a B.A. in English Literature, in 1970. Jobs: retail, lab assistant/phlebotomist, drug abuse counselor, and home-health caregiver. Presently employed as a pet sitter, and part-time church office administrator.
I am still 5'21/2", pleasingly (so I've been told!) plump, and soon to be 65 (aaaacccckkkk!!!). I live in Long Beach, CA, with a roommate (who is a licensed psychotherapist and fellow petsitter), her 2 crazy dogs, and 3 cats. I belong to 2 open and affirming churches, and am an alto in one church's choir (I played french horn in the M.H.H.S. band). I am an avid reader (fiction only, please) and love movies (no "chick-flicks"!) and eating at ethnic restuarants (hence, the pleasingly plumpness!). I have a way-out-there sense of humor,am very creative, and relatively intelligent (definitely NOT Mensa-smart!). I am currently (thank God!) single, and owe the fact that I've never been married to the not-so-stellar example of my parents' unholy union, but it remains my desire to someday find THE ONE (actually, anyone who is upright and still breathing will do!). I am a lesbian, and I'm sure that those of you who might remember me won't be at all surprised about that one. My sincere apologies to Don, Steve, and Baby Huey! I am a stauch defender of animals' and childrens' rights, and Mother Earth. I am a spiritual, not religious person, and will support any faith that is kind, loving, supportive, accepting, and not shaming, blaming, or judgemental (this, from someone who went to a Pentecostal college!).
In closing, I would love to hear from anyone who remembers me when I was much thinner, and a strange combination of jock and band nerd. Remember to always perform random acts of kindness, and to do no harm - as much as is possible - to yourself, others, and the Earth....Peace Out!
