Monroe Weathers:

CLASS OF 1981
Orange, CA

Monroe's Story

Well, its been almost 31 years since I left Elmo. When I opened my own business in 1993 Restoring, Selling and Collecting Classic Automobiles, I never knew how far it would take me. Everyone in school knew me as the one who drove the 1955 Studebaker and the 1965 El Camino. Well now it took me to the east coast. I have been moving here since selling my business in August of 2008. It has been hard moving both of my California houses and what I kept from my business when I sold it. The hardest part was moving my classic car collection. I now have 12 rare and collectible classic and current sports cars. I also married Cherie Colvin from our class of 81. We met the day after school ended and have now been married 25 years. I still only have 3 children. Monroe III (27) Steven (24) and Shelby (22). Yea, Shelby was named after the famous car as for I had to sell my first Shelby to pay for her delivery. Damn, I wish I had my first Shelby back. Atleast it would make me money, not cost me every time I see her. I have now been open in my new business named Classic and Muscle Car Restorations in Concord North Carolina. My original Home Town where I was born. It's like coming home since I moved from here in 1976. I bought a new house on 2-1/2 acres of land and industral property to build my new shop and personel museum on. I have vast collection of automobile memobilia and collectibiles to go a...Expand for more
long with my car collection. I want to share them with everyone. A few of you might have even seen me on the show Overhaulin with Chip Foose. I also modified and restored a 1969 Mustang for the late Heath Ledger of Australia. I have known his step father for well over 25 years. What a loss. Finally moved to North Carolina, it took 19 round trips wit a 22' truck and trailer to get everything moved. Thats an equal to 9 40' Semi loads. We clocked over 100,000 miles of driving in total. My new Ford F250 Super Duty Truck I bought in December 08 was out of factory warrenty in Jan 09. We clocked 40,000 miles in less than 5 weeks. I am glad the move is now over. We hit the ground running on my new business and now working 6 days a week again. Boy is it hard to restart after being off for a year. We are now open for business as usual and you can visit my website classicandmusclecarrestorations.com or mustangshopofconcord.com Every day brings new challanges for me and I rarely have anytime for myself. Well, I do take atleast 4-6 weeks a year vacation if possible. Me and Cherie go on a Disney Cruise atleast once a year and stay at my Disney time share at least one to two weeks a year. You gotta Love Mickey. We will be spending a week during Christmas down there. It will be the first time in my life that I will not be at home for Christmas. I am in Concord, North Carolina Updated 05-15-2012
