Went to Barnard College Class of '62. The to Grad school at Boston with an advanced degree in Physical Chemistry. That was followed by a few years working in the space program at NASA Headquarters in D.C. for a company called Bellcomm which was a subsidiary of the well known Bell Labs. It was very exciting to be part of the team that helped land men on the moon. When Bell Labs decided not to renew the contract with NASA I had a career decision to make and I decided to apply to Medical school. I was accepted by NYU two months before my 30th birthday. I spent my fourth year of med school doing electives in the Los Angeles area and I moved to Santa Monica. I did all of my post-graduate training in Los Angeles and was certified by both the American Board of Radiology [diagnostic radiology] and the American Board of Nuclear Medicine. I practiced with the City of Hope and then with a few private practices in the greater Los Angeles area until 1998 when I was diagnosed with Stage IIIB inflammatory breast cancer. This is the worst type of breast cancer as it is the most aggressive. I was fortunate that I did not have metastases at the time of diagnosis. Unfortunately for me, however, my oncologist overdosed me and improperly infused me with Taxol which was a relatively new drug in 1998.
