Myra's Story
Hey folks. What to say? Well, after EBHS I went to Middlesex County College and got an associate degree in electronics. Sue Mahnkenwas in my class.
I had wanted to get a job after obtaining the A.A.S., but my then BF and my mom urged mt to transfer to a 4-year school for my bachelor's.
I went to Trenton State (College of NJ now, I hear) for their electronics program, hated it, and dropped out about 9 creds short of the degree.
Married a man, Alan Megill, I met at a summer job I had at Ford Motor Co. in Edison.
Didn't have children until 1990 when Lindsay was born. She was going to be an only child, but I changed my mind before I got too old and had Stephanie in 1996- I was 37 when she was born!
Alan and I had lost our parents by 1995- so with nothing holding us in NJ anymore, we moved to North Carolina. I live about 50 mil...Expand for more
es due east of Charlotte, where I commute to work everyday at Sanmina-SCI Corp. I worked in same building for Philips Medical Systems- we were their repair center for their hospital MRI, X-Ray, CT and Nuclear equipment. I started as a test equipment calibrator.
Then Philips sold the repair center to Sanmina- now I am a buyer for 3rd party calibration services.
Alan drove a tractor-trailer most of his life, and when I was between jobs in the late 80's and nothing was happening for me, I joined him in the truck where he taught me to drive. I got my CDL and we drove as a team for 2 years (this was before having kids.)
We covered all of New England, south to VA, west to Illinoise. It was a fun and challenging experience.
Now- my daughters are my pride and joy.
Lindsay graduates HS next month and Stephie is finishing the 6th grade.
