Nada's Story

Life March 2007. Right now I would love to quit my job again and just make dolls and sing! Ha! Not with one kid in college and the other starting in 5 years. Ben will be 19 on July 4th.! I took 3 years off from being a pharmacist to try my own business full time and all I incurred was debt so I am back in the pharmacy soup again until I retire. I do prescriptions and consulting for nursing homes and assisted living facilities and it is great MOST of the time..ha ha..a slight disclaimer there. I think I have a love-hate relationship with my pharmacy job. I am also still singing jazz with various piano players and trios around town and always making dolls. I am working on 240 dolls for 2 different doll collector's convention"s souvenirs this year. I have a CD of my jazz work..its really smoooth. If you e-mail me, I will send you a copy free! My son Ben is a freshman at the U of North Texas..a percussion Ed major and doing great. He loves and plays all styles of music including steel drums. My daughter Sarah is 13 and a budding percussion player herself. Now I've been marrried 27 years and time is marching on. Hope some of you e-mail me! School At Westgate elementary school, I had a terrible crush on my first male teacher in 5th grade, Mr Leonard.... I would daydream that I fainted in class and he carried me away on a horse or something...lol. I remember Mrs Pomfret too! She was from Arkansas and gave me her Arkansas poster! I have to say that my most inspirational teacher in all my school career was Mrs Hibbets. I had her for math in 7th grade, Alg I in 9th grade and Alg II in 11th grade. If it weren't for her logical, organized and lovingly strict teaching method...Expand for more
s, I would never have even attempted pharmacy school. And thats the truth. Another favorite high school teacher was Srta. Oliva, my beloved Spanish teacher. I heard she moved back to Florida and I wish her the best. If you are out there, I still get myself in trouble trying to help hispanic people at the airport find their gates and stuff....lol and I still sing "Eres Tu" and some latin american jazz. How could I have learned to "Pronunciar" without you? I remember the names of every teacher I ever had until college. This is understandable considering I have over 300 college credit hours and 2 bachelor's degrees. I think I am the oldest living undergraduate student :0) College Well, I started at UNO, But finished with a BA in Music at USL in 1981. Later I graduated from Pharmacy School at the University of Houston (1993) I never did live in the dorms, except married student dorms at USL. Recently I've been working on a jazz certification at Houston Community College. I guess I'm just an educational glutton for punishment :)) Workplace After I got married in 1979, we moved to Lafayette and I finished my music BA at USL in 1981. I worked as a pharmacy techinician and only used my music at that time to sing in weddings. We moved to Houston in 1989 and I graduated from Pharmacy school in 1993. I worked at Spring Branch Hospital, Katy Hospital, and Richmond State School as a pharmacist. I left the field of pharmacy in 2001 to start my own business.. but now I'm back again. The kids have to go to college and I dont want them to have to pay for it all themselves now like I did. I still make porcelain dolls and sing jazz...see the website :0) And I love my jobs ...
