Nadine's Story

Life I live in Beautiful Sunny So. Florida (Coral Springs to be exact), and am happily re-married with 4 Children (as of 3/2007 they are 24, 22, 18 & 17). I work for a Health Care Provider (imagine that in S. Florida) as an IT Telecommunications Specialist, for the last 11 years. I am working towards my Masters in Computer Science. My 2 Oldest girls have graduated college (one for law from Flagler College, St. Augustine FL, soon to begin her masters at Georgetown in DC, the other for psychology from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS), and my youngest girl, graduated High School just last year, and my son is a junior in High School. He is currently a 3rd year ROTC Officer with his high school, and I am very proud of them all. If I could do just 1 thing over in life, to this point I would have never started smoking, it sucks and it is hard to quit... My children are my greatest accomplishments ever... and I never dreamed that life could be so hard, but so rewarding. I thank GOD for all that he has shown me, and the opportunities that I have had to live life to the fullest. I have a wonderful, supportive husband, and 3 wonderful dogs that along; and with my children, they are the light of my life. Life has been hard, rough, and full of lessons, but if it weren’t, what would I have learned? How could I have taught my children, how could I have lived, or taught them to live? Sometimes I miss Maryland, but then, I look around me and couldn’t imagine things to be any different than this. SE Florida (Minus the rude and inconsiderate people) is not much different than DC without the pollution. Multilingual is absolutely a necessity, and a pleasure to hear such beautiful languages. It is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth. Where else can you wake up to temps usually in the 70's and not peak over 92 or 93 certainly not in MD. You can watch the sunrise on the east coast, and drive 2.5 hours west and watch it set that day. Minus the occasiona...Expand for more
l hurricane, and North Carolina gets it far worse than we do. I am about to celebrate my 10th year wedding anniversary with my (second) husband, and we are going to travel to Europe (North, Central & South), something I never dreamed that I could ever do. I have been blessed many times over. I survived a nearly fatal car accident in January 2002 that should have by all rights taken my life. Instead, I got to stick around and see my children grow, work toward common goals with my husband, with whom I am absolutely so very much in love with (yes the kind you read about), and could not ever imagine ever having anything better than this. Don't get me wrong, life is not perfect, just great. I appreciate the challenges and distractions. We have thought about moving back north (He is originally from Indiana), to Maryland actually. His parents recently relocated to Cumberland (Western MD for all you geography buffs), and we are considering moving there to retire. I know, I have it backwards...you start out in the cold states and migrate to the warm states to retire, but believe it or not, I still can't believe how beautiful our home state is. I do miss the dogwood trees and the snow in the winter. I remember peaceful evenings looking out the bay window in the night, watching the snow fall against the trees in the light of the street lights, it was so serine. There are a couple of things I can say for sure; pray, and pray often, and be careful what you pray for, you could get it sooner than you think. Don’t pray for patience, that is a virtue you learn all on it’s own. Love your parents, and forgive yourself for what you did as a kid. Let your children know you are not perfect, just human; they will have a greater appreciation for you that way. Life is short, live it. When you have the chance, Thank those people who helped you become the person you are today. They probably already know, but will know you appreciate them and all that they did for you.
