One of Nana's favorite quotes is:"The Bible says in 2 Peter 1:3 that as we grow in our knowledge of God, through his divine power he gives us everything we need for life and godliness. Jesus relied on the Word of God alone to overcome obstacles, including the devil. God's Word is alive and powerful (Hebrews 4:12), useful for correcting us when we are wrong and teaching us what is right (2 Timothy 3:16). So, it makes sense for us to carry God's Word in our hearts through memorization, to be ready to face any problem, every difficulty, and whatsoever challenge that life can send our way. Presented here are a number of problems, difficulties and challenges that we face in life, along with corresponding answers from God's Word: Anxiety Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV) Brokenhearted The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18 (NASB) Confusion For God is not the author of confusion but of peace ... 1 Corinthians 14:33 (NKJV) Defeat We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair ... 2 Corinthians 4:8 (NIV) Disappointment And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28 (NLT) Doubt I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. Matthew 17:20 (NIV) Failure The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. Proverbs 24:16 (NLT) Fear For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT) • More on Fear Grief Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4 (NIV) Hunger Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4 (NIV) Impatience Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD. Psalm 27:14 (NIV) • More on Patience Impossibilities Jesus replied, "What is impossible with men is possible with God." Luke 18:27 (NIV) • More on Postive Thinking Inability And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NIV) Inadequacy I can do everything through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13 (NIV) • More on Feelings of Inadequacy Lacking Direction Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT) • More on Seeking Direction Lacking Intelligence If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. James 1:5 (NIV) Lacking Wisdom It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 1 Corinthians 1:30 (NIV) • More on Wisdom Loneliness ... the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV) • More on Loneliness Mourning Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:4 (NIV) Poverty And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 (NKJV) Rejection No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:39 (NIV) Sorrow I will turn their mourning into joy and will comfort them and give them joy for their sorrow. Jeremiah 31:13 (NASB) Temptation No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV) • More on Temptation Tiredness ... but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV) Unforgiveness So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1 (NLT) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 (NIV) • More on Unforgiveness Unloved See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! 1 John 3:1 (NLT) Weakness My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV) Weariness Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV) Worry Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7 (NLT) 10 Words of Wisdom for Women Words of Wisdom: As a woman, you are not automatically assigned the job of "chief worrier." Instead, fill your heart with trust, hope, and God's peace. You'll sleep so much better at night. Matthew 6:25 Therefore I tell you, stop being perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater (in quality) than food, and the body (far above and more excellent) than clothing? (Amplified Bible) Words of Wisdom: Don't Let Fear Be Your Guide Don't let fear be the reason for your decisions. Instead, fill your heart and mind with positive, life affirming words that will never change. Look to God's Word. 2 Timothy 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but (He has given us a spirit) of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control. (Amplified Bible) Be an Example of Forgiveness Women will always be examples of right living to their children. Showing your kids what forgiveness looks like will always be one of your most important examples. Col...Expand for more
ossians 3:13 Be gentle and forbearing with one another and, if one has a difference (a grievance or complaint) against another, readily pardoning each other; even as the Lord has (freely) forgiven you, so must you also forgive. (Amplified Bible) Teach True Love Through Respect One of the best things you can do for your children is to love and respect their father. Teaching kids early about real love is an amazing gift they will treasure forever. Ephesians 5:5 Be imitators of God (copy Him and follow His example), as well-beloved children (imitate their father). (Amplified Bible) God's Will is Worth the Wait Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to wait for God to show you what's next in your life. But just know that God is never late and it's always worth the wait. Galatians 6:9 And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint. (Amplified Bible) God's Will Fulfills Our Dreams Don't forget that God has filled your heart with dreams. When you choose God's path to those dreams, the doors will open. God wants you to be happy more than you do. John 5:30 I am able to do nothing from Myself (independently, of my own accord-but only as I am taught by God and as I get His orders). Even as I hear, I judge (I decide as I am bidden to decide. As the voice comes to me, so I give a decision), and my judgment is right (just, righteous), because I do not seek or consult my own will, (I have no desire to do what is pleasing to myself, my own aim, my own purpose), but only the will and pleasure of the Father who sent me. (Amplified Bible) Nothing is Too Hard for God Don't be afraid to talk to God every single day. Nothing is too hard for Him. Every prayer is like planting a seed of hope. You never know when God will send you a harvest. John 15:16 You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed you (I have planted you), that you might go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit may be lasting (that it may remain, abide), so that whatever you ask the Father in My name (as presenting all that I AM), He may give it to you. (Amplified Bible) Listen First, Then Plan Take the time to listen to God before you make your own plans. God's idea will always work better than yours. Deuteronomy 28:1 If you will listen diligently to the voice of the Lord your God, being watchful to do all His commandments which I command you this day the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. (Amplified Bible) God Has a Plan Just for You Life is too short to compare yourself with everybody else. God has a very special plan just for you. Isaiah 40:31 But those who wait for the Lord (who expect, look for, and hope in Him) shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up (close to God) as eagles (mount up to the sun); they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired. (Amplified Bible) You Can Make a Difference Make up your mind you're going to make a difference to somebody else. You can be a blessing, you can say something positive to somebody else, and you can focus on making the most out of every moment. James 2:17 So also faith, if it does not have works (deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by itself is destitute of power (inoperative, dead). (Amplified Bible) Encouraging Words: God is Painfully, Powerfully, Perfectly ... in Control Encouraging Words: God is in control. He is sovereign ... even in our pain, even in our troubles. Through it all, his love is transforming us, perfecting us, completing us. James 1:2-4 Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. (NLT) Encouraging Words: Ever-Increasing Glory There is a process at work in the life of every believer. We are being changed into his likeness, but it cannot happen overnight. Give God time to produce his ever-increasing glory in you. 2 Corinthians 3:18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. (NIV) Trust Him for Daily Manna Do you feel forsaken? Perhaps you've just forgotten: God is able ... he will supply. Seek him daily and trust him to provide everything you need. Psalm 9:10 Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you. (NIV) God Promises Salvation Not Safety We are called to go—go into the world. God tells us to be courageous as we face the dangers and the battles of life. We may not always travel in safe territory, but we'll never be alone. Jehovah, our Salvation, is with us. Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go. (NIV) He is Making Us Beautiful Too often we feel awkward and unlovely, but in God's eyes, he is making us beautiful. Ecclesiastes 3:11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. (NIV) Strength of Character is Forged Through Trials Just as a hammer and high heat are used to forge instruments of iron, God uses trials to develop genuine faith and strength of character in us. 1 Peter 1:6-7 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. (NIV) here is No Temptation Too Great God is faithful. He always provides a way of escape. When tempted, your job is not to bear up under the weight of temptation, but rather, to look for the escape route God has already provided. 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. (NIV) Losing is Winning The happiest Christians are those who have found the joy of serving others. The quickest way to end a pity party is to find someone who needs your help. Mark 8:34-35 If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it. (NIV) Laughter is Good Medicine If today you can't find a reason to smile, take some time to focus on the lighter side of life, enjoy your friends, watch a comedy, read the funnies, or spend time with children. Look for ways to include laughter in each day. Proverbs 17:22 A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength. (NLT) The Transforming Oven of Adversity Although you may be suffering right now, it's only temporary. God, who is infinitely wise and skilled, knows just how to care for you. Trust that he is shaping you into someone beautiful, honorable, and good—able to reflect his glory. Romans 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. (NKJV)".
