Nancy's Story
Life
I married in August 1960, the same year I graduated. We got engaged right after my graduation. My husband Ron and I had 4 children and now have 11 grandchildren. We had 12, but we lost one at age 20 in a motorcycle accident. We have 3 great grandchildren.
We enjoy living here in Landrum, South Carolina. Two of my children have moved here also along with 7 of my grandchildren.
What has surprised me is that five years ago when my youngest southern grandchild was born, I agreed to care for her during the day. That year turned into three years during which time I practiced...Expand for more
my career of real estate until she was too much to control when with customers and clients. After that I got to know her very well and enjoy her company.
After she entered daycare, I started doing temporary secretarial work and was called on for a long-term assignment in the Health and Safety department of a company where I keep the records and also am responsible for the maintenance and updating of their departmental portion of the company intranet. I have been there over 6 years now.
Both of these events have kept this part of my life interesting and completely unexpected!
