Nancy's Story
I married right after I graduated from UC Davis with a BS in Consumer Food Science, and promptly moved up to Seattle. Rich went to grad school and I worked. We left Seattle in 1978, with a 6 week old son, and 2 cats, and moved to Walnut Creek, where we raised Colin and a second son, Andrew - and over the years added a few more cats, and sadly said goodbye to our original ones.
Rich commuted into SF and worked for the US Forest Service as a cartographer, and I stayed home with the kids. Got involved with PTA. Spent 17 years active in all levels of PTA, including 6 years on the state board - with 2 as the Vice President for Health.
At that point, both boys were in college - one finishing at Chico and the other at UCLA, so I gave up volunteering, and became the Executive Director for the CA School Nurses Organization. I ha...Expand for more
ve been the ED for almost 9 years.
Both boys graduated from their respective schools. Colin - construction management- married his college sweetheart (Hawaii wedding - fabulous!) and they live up in the foothills, and have 2 little ones.
Andrew is in SF - political science and international economics - working as a portfolio manager for an international banking investment firm.
Rich has almost 32 years with the Forest Service, though he now commutes to Mare Island. We moved to Sacramento soon after Andrew graduated from UCLA, in 2004.
Love it here, with just us and 4 cats.
Rich is ready to retire - though probably won't for a while. I have a love hate releationship with my job - though always passionate about the issues.
Never enough ime in the day to do everything I want to do...guess getting older doesn't help!
