Nancy's Story

Life My Spouse My husband Miguel Perez Chavez passed away October 22, 2006 after a 4 1/2 year battle with cancer. I met Michael when he wrote to me from Vietnam while in the Marine Corps. He was a friend of a friend and he would write letters to her. I started writing and he wrote back. When he came home we got together when I was Junior at Norwalk High. We got married December 12, 1970 and were married almost 36 years. He was a good father, a decent man and a loving grandfather. My Pets One dog. Mojo the Chihuahua. He was a rescue from a puppy mill where he was the resident stud dog. He came with the name so it could have been from the Chihuahua on Transformers or from Austin Powers because he needed his mojo on to do his job. Update: There is now a white fluffy fierce poodle in the family mix. She belonged to some friends and when both passed away she became part of our pack. Her name is Amy. My Kids One daughter is a graduate of CSULB and a fourth grade teacher in Huntington Beach. She completed her masters as a wife and adult mother of two.. She got married in Sept. 2004 and is the proud mother of now teenage Josslyn as of August 3, 2006 and teenage Parker on December 24,2007. The other daughter is a graduate of CSUF and got married in Oct. 2003. She is the proud mother of teenage Samantha as of June 24,2006 and Alex as of July 24, 2013. While she never actually got into insurance she is an Executive Admin to several C-Suite types for the company where I work. My Job I work for a large insurance agency in Orange County, California as the F...Expand for more
irst Vice President. and Director of Professional Development in Newport Beach. I always wanted to be a teacher and now I'm part of an 8 person team creating and delivering training to 4,000+ (and growing) employees. The position allows me to work remotely from home most of the time. I have over 45 years experience in the insurance industry so this job has given me an opportunity to use all of the skills I've picked up over the years. Other than adjusting insurance claims there's not a job I haven't done in the industry all the way from being a file clerk to owning an insurance agency. School My biggest school crush (besides my hubby) was Steve Bernardino, class of 1969 but he was always going steady with Bev Hart. Bummer. College No college. I didn't have parents that believed girls needed a degree and I fell in lust with my husband. He looked really cute in his uniform! Then came babies and no time or motivation to go to college but I was very fortunate to actually find a career that recognized and rewarded work experience. Free Time This is pretty scarce these days. With a demanding job and grandkids life is pretty rich and busy. When I do get a little time I read, surf the net, garden a little and try to get artistic. Wildest Thing I Did in School? One time I went on a toilet papering spree with Rita Snyder, Nancy Easley, Marsha Baker and Eileen Romo. That's right ladies I ratted you out after all these years. We were wild and crazy back then. We would also pile into Marsha Bakers or Rita Snyder's VWs and do road rallies. That was a lot of fun.
