Nancy's Story

Life Nancy was born in Cleveland Ohio and raised in a Methodist family. Jon was born in Danville Illinois and raised in a Christian Science family. The two of them met in North Palm Beach Florida and were married soon after. Nancy never heard the true word of God in her life until she went away to college and a local Presbyterian church had an outreach to college students. There she found out that God requires a personal relationship and a heart change in order to become born again. This was not the emphasis in the Methodist church for so long and she was one of many who thought she was a Christian, but was lost. On October 31, 1971, she and another individual who was a Satan Worshipper, walked forward to the altar at church and found out what being a born again believer meant. Because of the circumstances of her experience, she became curious about the differences in the different denominations which led to studying the differences in the cults and then onward to many other religions. She found out that the protestant denominations had the same foundation. Jesus Christ is Lord and God, the Holy Spirit is God and you must be born again. The cults deny the deity of Christ. These groups include Jehovah Witnesses, Mormons, and Christian Scientists among others. Time passed and years later, Nancy was in Florida after a divorce. She had come to the conclusion that maybe God would prefer that she stay single because of the divorce and an engagement that she felt the Lord say “no” to and she broke it off. One night she decided to make a clean break of things and change the flooring in her trailer. She ended up in Color Tile where Jon was working. For an uninterrupted hour she bought her tile and talked a lot with Jon. If you can believe in love at first sight, the two of them had it. One thing came out of the conversation, Jon was a practicing Christian Scientist. Nancy knew he wasn’t a Christian and knew she should not be unequally yoked. Just prior to meeting Jon she had read the whole series of the Chronicles of N...Expand for more
arnia. In the last book after the battle of Armaggedon, the lion Aslyan (representing Jesus) is asked by his children why a child from the enemies camp was allowed into heaven with them. Aslyan’s response was that the child had always been searching for him but could not find him in the enemies camp. God laid that message in Nancy’s heart that that was Jon. She proceeded cautiously and listened for God’s direction in her life. Because she was faithful to listen, God reached Jon’s heart on April 23, 1983. Nancy had accepted Jon’s proposal of marriage on April 26, 1982 and all the plans were in place for August 7th when Nancy heard God say she had to say “no”. Knowing that she needed to obey God, she broke off the engagement. 10 days before August 7th, Jon was in prayer and God spoke to him that Nancy was the woman God had planned for his wife. Jon knew that if he was to marry Nancy, he would have to quit going to the Christian Science church. He came to Nancy with what had happen to him. Not knowing what to do, Nancy put a fleece up to the Lord. ALL the wedding plans had to go back in place without one hitch, and she would know that this was what God wanted. She prayed that if this was not what God wanted to please make something go wrong. In 24 hours, the church, minister, photographer, soloist, cake, dresses and bridesmaids, the bell choir members and substitute leader (Nancy directed this bell choir), the lady who wanted to do the reception, and the invitations were mailed (with the RSVP date crossed out as the date had passed.) The church had three weddings planned a week later, but none on August 7, 1982. God had given his blessings 24 years ago and the marriage is still strong and wonderful. Two children from this union, TJ (Tim) 22 and Chris 19, are strong Christian children who know that obeying God is the most important thing in a Christian’s life. Jon died 2/25/07 If you would like to know the whole story, it is now in a book available on Amazon called "God Moves Us in Mysterious Ways"
