Nancy's Story

After high school, I went to work and became a legal secretary for a single practitioner here in Sacramento. After two years, I relocated to Orange County where I worked for a very large law firm that had over 80 attorneys. Talk about culture shock. I met my husband at a "Hot Pants Party" in 1970. We took a trip around the United States in 1972 and traveled over 22,000 miles, saw 44 states and their capitols and were gone for three months. Had some amazing adventures and made incredible memories on that adventure. To this day, I love, love, love New England in the fall, Georgia, Tennessee and Kentucky in the spring and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in late summe...Expand for more
r. We moved back to Sacramento in 1975. Our daughter was born in 1976 and our son in 1978. My husband taught at Cosumnes River College and Folsom Lake College until a cancer diagnosis in 2003 forced his retirement. He passed away in November of 2014. We celebrated our 43rd anniversary just before he died. I was a stay at home mom until my kids got into high school. I went back to school and became a travel agent for the next ten years. I was my own best customer. We added the remaining 6 states and crossed many other countries and destinations off our bucket lists. I live in Orangevale and have four amazing grandchildren who keep me busy and make me very happy.

Have to laugh at this. Mike always accused me of being a borderline hoarder. This is the last of folders and folders (well over 150 at last count) of receipts, statements and miscellaneous papers that date back to 1978!
Ever get the feeling you’re being stalked?
Way back when.... The Sacramento Bee used to publish a picture of your child on their first birthday. This was the picture my mom submitted 70 years ago.. It says I have 8 teeth and weigh 24 lbs.
I am so thankful my mom is recovering beautifully from her broken bones. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

You know how some homes have those cement lions guarding at the gate? These are my “LIONS” on duty!
I took my 4 grandchildren to Disneyland 10 days ago and they talked me into riding on the Matterhorn. I actually felt my neck snap on one of those twists and turns. Yesterday, I started Physical Therapy and this was on th
Mike gave me this beautiful "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" plant many years ago. It always blooms on Mother's Day. I looked at it earlier this week and wondered if this would be the first year it didn't bloom. This is w
