Nancy's Story

Life After High School and the Military I came back to Gilroy, I worked for California Canners and Growers as a Field Dept. Secretary. In 1978 I moved to Pismo Beach, married an old friend, had 2 children (now 32 and 30) bought a house in Atascadero and then the dreaded DIVORCE came. After the divorce there was no reason to stay in Atascadero, so I packed myself and the kids up and moved HOME. Back to the Morgan Hill/Gilroy area. I have since then raised my beautiful children, whom I am very proud. Now I have 3 beautiful grandchildren. Michael who is 5 years old and Riley who is almost 5 and Mason was born in May 2012. . Being a Grandma definitely has its benefits. Life is good. In June of 2011 I reunited with Mike Lemon. Mike and I dated when we both worked for California Canners and Growers back in the mid 70's. We went our separate ways and have found our way back to each other. We married July 19th, 2012. I'm looking for anyone I went to school with that remembers me. I would love to reconnect. Don't be afraid to ask..Do you remember me? Looking forward to reconnecting. Nancy Workplace I am in the process of making changes to my career I'm hoping to take 2 different State of Califonria tests in December and land a State job. I want to work in an office atmosphere as a "staff support". Before moving to Fresno I had sold MINI Coopers at MINI of Mountain View and having a blast. They are such cool cars, totally fun to drive and safe. After being the Sales Manager for 2 years and changing courses, no more stress and being able to enjoy the customers is a really nice change. For 17 years I had been the Customer Relations Manager for BMW...at BMW of Mountain View, formerly Allison BMW since 2000. I had taken a small break from the Automotive World and was a Purchasing Agent ...Expand for more
for a Plastic Fabrication Shop (I thought I wanted out of the Automobile business). Before working at Plastech I had been working at Stevens Creek BMW for 10 years. Working for the dealerships has it's ups and down, as any job, but I thrive on CHALLENGE and working with people who are upset that their $60,000 car is broken (how dare it) is a great challenge. Reality is an interesting thing when someone doesn't have a clue what reality really is. Military I joined the Army Reserves right out of high school. My parents had made it clear...go to school...or get a job. I went out to Gavilan to sign up for classes, all the classes that interested me were already full, so I looked in the Gilroy Dispatch for a JOB. I thought I wanted in the Med. field, there was an ad..347th General Hospital..all fields..training available. So I called, the guy who answered the phone stated, "We're doing HOME Interviews, we'd like to meet with you and your parents. I told him I was looking for a job not my parents, he asked me to humor him and allow him to come to our home at 7:30 that evening. When the knock on the door came, my dad answered and there stood the ARMY RECRUITER, boy did he (my dad) laugh. (he was retired Air Force). I did my basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and went to AIT at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis, Indiana. I did 1 1/2 years of my 3 year contract...got sick...got sent home...received a General Discharge under Honorable conditions, had 1/2 my stomach removed for ulcers (not supplied by the military, therefore no medical pension:(. All healed and healthy now. Enjoying life. During my Military career I met some pretty nice people that I would like to connect with, anyone reading this that knows Carol Barton, Patty Skeens and Judy Bartlett please forward my name to them.
