Nancy's Story

My story is well pretty textbook, graduated from nursing school, joined the navy, met my husband in Texas at one of my duty stations, married, followed him on his military pilot career path to Florida and Maine, had 5 beautiful children who are all now grown and spread out over the US, my oldest died at 24 from an mvc, two of my other children are chick fil a involved-one is an operator the other a supervisor aspiring to be an operator, a 27 year old daughter lives with me with one of my grandchildren and my other daughter is getting ready to graduate from the air force academy. Just recently lost both my parents, mother to cancer and dad to alzheimers and a broken heart. I became divorced after 22 years of marriage when my x decided a flight attendant paid him more attention, that ended and now he is engaged to a sweet divorced lady whose military husband left her after 30 years of wedded bliss. I work 12hr shifts in a very busy emergency department where I have been for the past 13 years. I have little to no social life of my own as I have been babysitter for grandchildren and care giver for both my parents for past 5 years. I love to travel-took a trip to Europe with both my girls a few years ago that was most memorable-got to see 7 countries in Europe (my favorite was Italy), took a western carribean cruise with son and his girlfriend (favorite part was the beach in Hondoras) also spent a week in Jamaica with my aspiring air force officer (daughter)-lo...Expand for more
ved the spa and the jamacian dancing! I am no longer a home owner-sold the house I raised the children in after 20years of living there-just too much house to take care of. Have a milestone birthday coming up but guess all of us who graduated hight school in the late 60's do! Seems like it was just yesterday that I was struggling to get through that typing class and almost failed computor programming my how times have changed! Can't do anything without a computor now! I never imagined being a southen bell 25 years ago! Living in the south (still have not picked up the accent) has managed to slow me down-had a great deal of trouble getting people to understand me because I spoke so fast! If I could turn the clock back, the only thing think I would do differently is to practice harder to be that cheerleader-still probably would not have made it but I sure would have tried to make more games-have learned alot about football since high school! My children were all atheletes (certainly did not get that gene from their mother)! I've enjoyed meeting new people, completing my education- finally got a bachelors in nursing after working on it for 8years-quite difficult to do while raising a family! So as you can see life has had a few bumps in the road, but I am lucky to be healthy, still have all my teeth, have a few hobbies that I dabble with when I have time but mostly enjoy my time spent with family and friends. Life is good just wish I'd win the lottery!
